Happy New Year lovelies!!! I hope you are as excited about 2019 as me!
We all know January is a month of focusing on health and being our best selves possible. I am going to share some of my favorite tips for healthier hair. I read and tried everything possible for healthy hair when I was on a 3 year journey for growing my hair. I was amazed with what a difference I saw after making a few small changes. Just like working out or any other healthy change, consistency is key for seeing results.
Tip 1: Use a microfiber towel to dry your hair. Microfiber towels will reduce breakage and frizziness, because it won't snag the hair like other towels. They also feel better, who doesn't love soft towels!?
Tip 2: Sleep with a silk or satin pillow case. This is one of my favorite tips on the list. Sleeping on a silk pillow case will benefit your skin as well. Cotton is an absorptive material, so it soaks the moisture out of your hair and skin. Cotton also tends to snag, causing more split ends. Plus sleeping on silk feels luxurious, sleep like the queen that you are girlfriend!!!
Tip 3: This one is more of a rule than a tip. Use a heat protectant before blow drying or heat styling your hair. Also, please do not turn your iron up past 375 degrees. Take smaller sections and turn the iron down to get great results without frying your hair.
Tip 4: Take your vitamins. Everything we put in our body comes out in our hair, skin, and nails. So healthy hair truly starts from the inside. When picking a multivitamin look for one that contains biotin. Biotin is a building block with in the body for making hair.
Tip 5: Use a conditioning or strengthening mask once or twice a week. You will amazed at how great your hair feels and looks.
Tip 6: This is another tip that is more like a rule. Get your hair trimmed. I know it is hard if you are working towards growing your hair out, but trust me on this one. Get a baby trim a.k.a dusting every 6 to 8 weeks. If your hair has dead split ends, they have to be cut off. If not, the split ends spread up and breakage keeps happening.
I know these may sound like a lot to add to your routine especially while trying to accomplish your other health goals. I promise if you change one thing at a time and stick with it, it will become a normal part of your routine and your hair will love you!
